Before you think of opting a profession , you must  have the ability to be one.

top 5 skills that make you an advocate well To become a lawyer is to become a man/woman of many hats. Law schools will teach you some of the skills you need, but they don’t teach to become a professional . In order to become a “good” lawyer, you should  have certain qualities. Some of these qualities you have discovered with yourself in your time as a law student.

HERE ARE THE  5 SKILLS YOU SHOULD OPT IF NOT OPT YET

  1. Good Speaking Skills

You  must be able to speak clearly and concisely. A lot of students are comfortable in front of a large group of people, but they lack the ability to form a logical thought . Another aspect of speaking skills is to understand legal terminology. You should have good command in your English and legal language. 

2. Judgement

The ability to draw reasonable, logical conclusions or assumptions from limited information is what makes you a good professional.

You must also be able to consider these judgments critically, so that you can anticipate potential areas of weakness in your argument that must be fortified against the other party.

Similarly, you must be able to spot points of weakness in an opposition argument. Decisiveness is also a part of judgment. There will be a lot of important judgment calls to make and little time for sitting on the fence.

3. Analytical skills

A student absorb a great deal of information during law school, then be able to organize and analyze the information in a logical manner.

At times, there will be more than one reasonable conclusions, or more than one precedent application for  resolving a situation.

A student must therefore have the evaluative skills in order to choose which is the most suitable.

4. Writing & Rhetoric Skills

There is an old joke that lawyers spend two minutes drafting an email response and 13 minutes reviewing and adjusting the answer. This is because specific legal  language which he is attaining and practicing. a student need to have good writing skills , so that when other person read he could understand what you are saying without asking any question

. Often, substantial sums of money can hinge on the balance of a single word in a negotiated agreement or contract. Every lawyer has seen agreements that have been rescinded post contract litigation because of a single ambiguous word. It is important to have writing and rhetoric skills both in and out of the courtroom when dealing with clients and contracts/agreements.

5. Perseverance-

“Perseverance is not a long race; it is many short races one after”

To become a lawyer takes a great deal of perseverance and commitment – and that’s before you even start work. Typically, a lawyer will do an undergraduate law degree, an LPC, and then a training contract before qualifying. Most will also complete a vacation scheme or some other kind of work experience.

You must be committed toward your work, to become a good professional,  you  must carry these skills if not carry within yours yet
